2016 was an interesting and rewarding year for Nordisk Hjälp. Turnover increased sharply, both in terms of general fundraising and in campaigns for special efforts. The collection for Madaya and for Ramadan was bigger than ever before. The number of child sponsors has also continued to increase for the third year in a row.
Furthermore, we were able to start the first ever project within Sweden, with the support of MUCF – a project against everyday racism. Running projects in Sweden is also important for the organization, as it enables practical skills development for our staff and volunteers.
Nordisk Hjälp is now a member of the CHS Alliance – an international “accountability” organization. A membership that will benefit us, both in the form of increased competence and in contacts with authorities worldwide.
In conclusion, we would like to emphasize the satisfaction that the campaign for the starving in Madaya raised such a large amount, that we managed to get the help quickly and without facing any major complications. The ways and methods used are now the basis for campaigns and aid to Syrian refugees in Syria and Lebanon, which we plan to implement in 2017.
